How the Lisbon tax works
Lisbon's taxa municipal turística is €4 per person per night, for a maximum of 7 nights per person per stay, so no guest pays more than €28 a stay. It applies from age 13.
Cruise passengers aged 13 and over who disembark in Lisbon pay a separate arrival fee.

Worked example
Example: Two adults and a 12-year-old stay 9 nights in a Lisbon apartment.
Hotel, guesthouse or local accommodation (Airbnb-style): €4 per person per night. €56 in tax.
Only the first 7 nights are charged. Some children pay less or nothing because of their age.
Who is exempt
- Children under 13.
- Stays for medical treatment, and one companion.
- Emergency placements, and new higher-education students and research fellows for up to 60 days.
Who collects it
Your hotel or host collects it and pays Lisbon City Council. Airbnb collects it for its hosts.
