How the Porto tax works
Since 1 December 2024 Porto's taxa municipal turística has been €3 per person per night, charged per night (not per booking). Children aged 12 and under pay nothing.

Worked example
Example: Two adults, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old stay 4 nights in a Porto hotel.
Hotel, guesthouse or local accommodation (Airbnb-style): €3 per person per night. €36 in tax.
Some children pay less or nothing because of their age.
Who is exempt
- Children aged 12 and under.
- Stays for medical treatment, and people with a disability of 60% or more, each with up to two companions.
- Pilgrims on their first night in a pilgrim hostel, and asylum seekers.
Who collects it
Your hotel or host collects it and pays Porto City Council.
