How the Florence tax works

Florence charges its imposta di soggiorno per person per night for up to 7 consecutive nights. Hotels pay by star rating, from €3.50 (1 star) to €8 (5 stars); B&Bs, holiday apartments and short lets pay €6, after a 50-cent rise on 1 February 2025. Children under 12 pay nothing.

Worked example

Example: Two adults, an 11-year-old and a 14-year-old stay 5 nights in a holiday apartment.

B&B, guest rooms, holiday apartment or tourist let: €6 per person per night. €90 in tax.

Some children pay less or nothing because of their age.

Who is exempt

  • Children up to their 12th birthday.
  • University of Florence students, companions of hospital patients, and people with severe disabilities and one companion.
  • School groups and under-16 sports players pay half.

Who collects it

Your hotel or host collects it and pays the City of Florence. Airbnb collects it when you book.
